Big Bachha

It is very difficult to understand what Amitabh, regarded as a superstar once upon a time, is trying to prove.

He has been appearing more and more on TV advertisements promoting all sorts of useless products. It is not clear whether his goal in life at this stage is to earn fame or money by appearing in such advertisements.

Now the news comes that he is going to act as the "Boss" in a stupid reality show on the TV called Big Boss which tries to present cheap excitement to the viewers by showing imbecile fights amongst the participants, some foul speech, some titillation etc. etc.

Perhaps, Amitabh needs to do all this for money. On the other hand, it is more than likely that he is entering his second childhood at the same time trying to appear very mature. Another possibility that cannot be ruled out is that seeing his son and daughter-in-law getting so much popularity, and his wife also being in politics, he does not want to be left behind and fade into ignominy and wants to remain in the public eye in any way possible even resorting to cheap gimmicks. Even his writings in his Blog increasingly look like meaningless ramblings of a teen keen to show writing abilities. Perhaps, he should take now seriously to twitter.

More and more, he is being his true self and behaving like a real Big B (Big Bachha).

As far as the movie industry is concerned, there are some like Dilip Kumar and Dev Anand who would like to live a dignified life in their twilight years whereas some like Amitabh, rather than doing something useful for the society, indulge in frivolities, pursuing activities that do not matter. It is true that men considered to be role models are after all merely men of straw.

One thing is sure as far as Amitabh, the angry young man of yesteryears is concerned:

He is neither young nor does his anger, if there is any left, make any difference to the public in this day and age which belongs to Akshaykumar, Shahrukh, Aamir, Salman, Saif and other Khans.

  2. Paisa bole che baba. If you can make it, do it. When you say the day belongs to people like Shahrukh Khan, well, he tells everybody to Wish karo, Dish Karo, gets a few crores to say it and then installs Tata Sky at his office/home haha. Kya baat hain. Sabko gumrah karo aur khud sabse alag karo. Sahi hain na ????

  4. The combination of being an Indian that too a Kayastha from the Hindi heartland, a big film star with a family full of stars starting from his father, it cannot be easy for a narcissistic personality. This is psychological problem and has nothing to do with money making. The second childhood hypothesis comes close enough to the personality wanting attention all the time, in other words, being in the limelight.

  5. previous commentor has aptly described amitabh's condition.

this guy needs to consult a psychiatrist.

there was a suggestion that he also wants to get constant praise from daughter in law and son for his ability to fit in any role in movies of tv. he is after their recognition.

  11. Isn't he FREE to choose for himself?
Just because he is a superstar doesn't mean that we own his Life :D

  12. tarun
he may be free to chose for himself. at the same time the public is free to express its opinion.

being a public figure, who essentially wants to be in the limelight and be admired by the public, people have every right to say what they really think of him.

  13. Then what is wrong with Raj Thackeray??
    Shiv Sena?
    KRV?
    MNS?
Why the "public" cries wen he speaks something?? :)

  14. The same public enjoyed when people said that Aishwarya Rai got married to a tree before marrying Abhishek?
Isn't there something like personal zone and Free "Conscious" Will??

  16. mns/raj thackeray cant be compared with amitabh.

what raj says has implications for sections of public. so people can object or agree with him.

where does amitabh come into political issues??????

  17. he is really behaving like a kid.

    he is cheapening himself.

  18. at this age why should not amitabh pursue reading etc. like his father?

he has a strange psyche really.

he thinks he is doing something great whereas he is actually becoming a laughingstock.
